Body Tip Here’s an easy way to step up your walking routine. Instead of meeting a friend for coffee, make a walking date instead — and have your latte after!
How do you keep your walking routine from feeling, well, routine? Pump new life into your favorite exercise by mixing things up a bit. First of all, make it social. Instead of meeting a friend for coffee, catch up during an invigorating walk instead and grab a coffee after. Or, start a walking group with coworkers or neighbors. Don’t let bad weather deter you; power walk around the mall or an indoor gymnasium. Walking can also be a great way to meet new people. Join walking groups in your area using meetup.com or mywalkingclub.org. If you don’t already use one, wear a pedometer. Tracking how many steps you take can inspire you to set new goals. If you’re already a walker, set new goals for yourself by finding hills in your area and conquering them, or add a sprint to the end of your walk and see how much farther you can go each time. Changing up your exercise routine can help keep it fun and challenging.
