Body Tip Feeling a little unstable? If your balance isn’t as good as it used to be, practice this exercise to help keep you steady on your feet.

Bumping into walls and wobbling around like you’ve had too much to drink? Balance and strength-building exercises can help prevent falls in seniors. That’s important because, as you get older, it becomes far more difficult to recover from broken hips and other injuries. To boost your balance, practice standing on one leg. Stand with your feet hip-distance apart. Use the back of a chair or a countertop to steady yourself if needed. Lift your left leg up and bend it behind you, so that your shin is parallel with the floor. Hold this position for as long as you can, up to 30 seconds.
