Body Tip Breast cancer survivors may want to eliminate full-fat dairy from their diets. It has been linked to a higher risk of breast cancer death.

Women who have had breast cancer might want to avoid cheese, butter, whole milk and ice cream. New research in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that even a single daily serving of high-fat dairy was associated with a 49 percent higher risk of dying from breast cancer, compared to those who ate few or no high-fat dairy products. Women who regularly consumed high-fat dairy also had a 64 percent higher risk of dying from any cause. You can get the health benefits of dairy — namely, calcium and vitamin D3 — from low- or no-fat sources, such as skim milk, nonfat yogurt and no-fat cottage cheese, and part-skim or reduced-fat cheese.
